Diversity, dialogue and multiculturalism in America

Four birthdays, two births, a medical school graduation, and a thousand moments where I needed to either get lost in some music and find that place that would let me go on or just get through doing the floors for the fifth time that day.

You were there.

You may not have made those moments happen, but you made them better in ways that I could not have imagined.  Ways that nobody imagined.

I didn’t know you, but you comforted my family, you brought us joy, made us proud of what our nation could accomplish… of what human beings could accomplish.

I’ve read enough history books to know this much:  A person like you?  Doesn’t come around everyday.  Not even every century.

You’ve left us, and I am stunned.

Wherever you are?  I’m sure you’re making it even better for the people who are there with you than they ever thought it could be.

Thank you,

Still Foolish & Hungry.  Because of you.
