30 Days Of Truth, Day 14: A Hero That Has Let You Down

I’ve never believed in heroes.

I refuse to look up and pretend that there’s no dark side of a person.

I can’t think of anyone I want to be more like.

Other than that woman in my head that looks, breathes and lives like me.  Only a little better.

I’ve never let another person soar so high in my esteem that when they fall neither I, nor they, can ever recover.

It’s a form of cruelty, I think, to revere someone so much that your reverence becomes a cage for them.

I don’t why, but I’ve always been this way.

I like what I see.  I like your hair, your smile, your heart, and your spirit.

If I like it enough, I’ll make it my own.

But a hero?  No.

I only see you.  And I only see me.

What I see is good.

But.

I’ve never believed much in heroes.

In the Bronx, a Hero is a sandwich! but if I were to use that term in it’s Heroic Meaning; then Almost Everyone I work with ARE Heros! That’s not to say they don’t have a Down Side(s) but Heros, just the Same.

Heroes are people to me doing what it takes to raise healthy, sound children. Everyday people (isn’t this a commercial?!) -seriously!
But yeah – like you, no one gets placed on a platform or anything.

  3. I wish I had this outlook. Honestly, it never dawned on me to just refuse to have heroes. Seems I am gonna have to work on seeing things this way. Makes so much sense!

Did you ever know that you’re my hero? And everything I wish I could be… ;)

  5. Loukia says:

You know? I don’t think I have heroes. I have people I admire and look up to, like my grandmother and my mother… and certain people in certain professions, and a few friends, but no heroes. People who have done amazing things in their lives, like the firefighters in 9/11, people who have endured a lot and have survived, perhaps I consider these types of people hereos.

It is not the abilities you have that make you who you are rather it is the choices you make. -JKRowling.

Besides heroes are too over-rated… ;)

  7. Lisa says:

I can’t think of a single hero I have either. I admire qualities in people, but heroes? No.

Unless it’s the Greatest American Hero. He was AWESOME.

  8. Avitable says:

Well, I guess I’m burning the “Faiqa is my hero” T-shirts I made for everyone.

  9. Miss Britt says:

I have tons of heroes and lots and lots of people I’d like to be more like. I can’t wrap my head around not – no matter how logical it might sound on paper.
