Diversity, dialogue and multiculturalism in America

You know. I was going to write a really good post about the current state of healthcare legislation. I was planning on being informative and eloquent.

And then I saw this and completely lost my train of thought.

Saturday morning cartoons. When I was a kid, it was the nectar of geniuses. Or ambrosia. Or something like that.

Anyway, I want to know why they left out the part where Massachusetts gets a Republican senator and the Democrats don’t think the bill is good enough to pass before he gets seated.

I guess school bus stop signs engendered more of a feeling of consensus back in the 80s.

The most difficult thing about all of this is having to sit back and watch the politicians do their thing. Which is annoy the hell out of us.

P.S. I don’t think the bill is good enough to pass before he gets seated, either. Just FYI.

Faiqa, can I nominate you for president?

  2. NYCWD says:

I think of Bills were written along the same simple lines as an episode of Schoolhouse Rock, they would happen alot quicker and at the same time I think we’d be able to get more done.

    I love that cartoon.

    Just sayin’.

  3. Hockeymandad says:

    Three IS a magic number!

  4. Karen Sugarpants says:

Back bacon. Healthcare. Me. See how easy it would be to move here? New houses are being built in my neighbourhood. T & D would get along so well omgdood.
I’ll even make you the best coffee and the best waffles with maple syrup, eh!

  5. Sybil Law says:

GAH! I already know most of the words to this one!
And I always agree with you, so, yes.
    Dangit.

  6. B.E. Earl says:

    Diggin’ the new layout!

And everything I ever learned in life, I learned from Schoolhouse Rock. Or damn near close to it.

I did not read this post yet, I came merely to see the new layout. After having perused the site, I can indeed confirm that the layout is new.

    (also, it looks fantastic!)

  8. delmer says:

I remember drawing from that Schoolhouse Rock clip in my high school government class.

  9. Hilly says:

I love this one. I think my favorite is “Conjunction Junction, What’s Your Function?” though…more people need to learn grammar, FFS.

  10. RW says:

The cartoon has a Bill wearing a straw hat.

    Um…

  11. Nanna says:

Heh. I know all the words to this clip AND “Conjunction Junction”. Now how can that be? Did they have that on THAT long?

  12. Finn says:

Why did they stop “Schoolhouse Rock”? Everything good I learned, I learned from those cartoons. I have been known to sing one of the multiplication songs when I need to call up an answer fast.

Don’t get me started on the state of lawmaking in this country right now. And did you hear what the Supreme Court just did?! OMG.

  13. SciFi Dad says:

As Kent Brockman said, “I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: ‘Democracy doesn’t work.’”

  14. I now have a mental image of this little bill, sneaking into Senator-elect Brown’s office, crapping in his chair, and running like Hell out of the Capitol building. ;)

  15. Poppy says:

That was always my favorite segment from Schoolhouse Rock.

I’m not sure why, my retention of political processes is horrible.

  16. Becca says:

I love that one!! C and I have been singing it for the last millenia, since they’ve been trying to pass this stupid thing!

My other fave is conjunction junction, just sayin!!

And the new layout is awesome!! :)
