Diversity, dialogue and multiculturalism in America

I know everyone is sick of hearing about Michael Jackson.  So, I promise never, ever to bring him up ever again.  After today.

I saw this clip from “Britain’s Got Talent” several months ago, maybe even last year.  In retrospect, it captures one of the points I was trying to get across in this post.

Although you may be tempted to close this video after about a minute, make sure you keep watching. I think you’ll be surprised. Whether it’s pleasantly, I can’t guarantee.

    Michael Jackson was a monster.

But that vid was pretty cool.

  2. Avitable says:

What exactly was the talent? Dancing? Surprising? Moonwalking? Making idiot audience members scream?

  3. HoosierGirl says:

I think that was really good. I like the surprse! Did he win?

    J.

  4. Finn says:

I loved it. Very clever. And good dancing.

  5. er… no. No, I’m not. But thanks.

I wonder if MJ impersonators will start popping up all over the place. After Elvis died I remember reading that the number of Elvis impersonators was increasing so rapidly that if it didn’t slow down every man, woman, and child in the US would be an Elvis impersonator in just a few years.

  7. Nanna says:

    Ah I LOVED it!

  8. Poppy says:

    That was crazy-mad-insanely-awesome!

    “We weren’t expecting that.”

    Noooo, we weren’t.

  9. Sybil Law says:

    I loved it!
I actually am a complete sap for feel – good, happy, schleppy stuff.
    Plus, Suleman’s kinda cute. :P

  10. That was cool. We were all MJ impersonators as kids. I couldn’t moonwalk, but I had the cool Bad gloves. And you know, I can be cynical sometimes, but I can’t be a hater. Both of them look really happy when they hug at the end. I’m a fan of happy.

*I* loved it! More so because of how it ties in with your other post.

  12. tariq says:

I totally want to be the punjabi guy in that video. Maybe i should find someone with MJ talents here and take him/her to ‘America’s got talent’…cause you know i can totally do the desi dance.

  13. tariq says:

oh and how come you never give me props for forwarding you so much of the content for your blog posts? I am the producer of this show!!! Oh wait…you’re pregnant…I am sorry…forget i said anything.

the only cool kid lingo Earl knows, he gets from me.

p.s. i cant see this video from work, so all i can do here is make fun of earl.. hopefully thats enough..

  15. LOVED these two. wanted to punch someone in the throat when they kept cutting to the audience, the two douchebags backstage or the three judges. for the love of fuck, i wanna see talented dancers! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

  16. Selma says:

Moonwalking with a little sprinkling of Bollywood. Fantastic!

  17. TheGoriWife says:

There’s a second video out there of these two doing a similar bit to Thriller. I think it was the final show or whatevs. Cool stuff. Am sucker for bhangra. I even taught my 2.5 year old how to stick out his pointer fingers. Unfortunately he looks more like Saturday Night Fever than Bhangra Blowout at the moment. Working on it.

  18. HoosierGirl says:

I love that clip. I keep coming back to watch it.

    J.

PS. Don’t you love how husbands/boyfriends don’t want a blog of their own, yet they keep taking credit for some of its content? That happens in my life quite a lot: “you should put this on your blog”. Men.

  19. bagong says:

I cant stop talking about him. he IS the Kinf of Pop. I cant wait for that concert tribute in london and his movie. I love Michael Jackson! He’s my inspiration!

  20. Hayden says:
