A friend threw my baby shower this past weekend.
In addition to opening presents and playing a couple of games, we also had a henna artist.

I’m especially thankful to this friend. She has twins and a full time job, so I’m not sure when she did all this.
All I know is that I must be a fairly decent person to have someone in my life who would do so much for me. (See what I did there? I made it about me. It’s an art, people.)
I mentioned earlier that I haven’t been over the top excited about being pregnant, but the shower did sort of put me over the top. I suppose that’s the point.
For three years, it’s been all about her.

A few hours after the shower, it hit me, all of a sudden.
What do boys do, anyway?
I’ll tell you one thing.
I’m looking forward to finding out.

They pee straight up in the air, that’s what they do. And all over the place. This is going to be hilarious.

@Avitable, Is today “fun with bodily function talk” day for you or something?

He’s going to be AWESOME.
And he probably will pee all over. Unless you get a peepee teepee or whatever. My friend got one. It’s funny!

Peepee Teepees are a marketing ploy, HOWEVER, baby boys do pee all over, and straight up in the air, especially as soon as the cold air hits their penis. A cloth diaper in one hand to keep the wee-bits warm while you change the diaper is a quickly learned trick. Ah, don’t miss those days.

I’m not too sure about the answer to your question but what I do know is that in 2nd grade, boys cause a lot LESS drama than girls do.

My nephew is a calm little boy, yet he still likes to jump, go outside (I mean play, not pee), play with his train, play with his trucks, go to the “payground”. And when they are little, there is that pee thing. Well, with potty training my nephew, he thinks it is funny to go on the floor, so I guess there is always the pee thing.
It’s gonna be awesome for you!

Let’s see. My wife has the same concern. I told her boys are just like girls except they eat more dirt and like to break stuff. I think that sums it up.

@RebTurtle, Eat *more* dirt? This explains why my daughter doesn’t eat much food, then.

I don’t have kids but I think boys dig miniature skater clothes, eat things and take great pleasure in peeing in places they shouldn’t

@Breigh, I’m starting to see that being a boy has a lot to do with peeing.

Oh, did you announce before that you knew it was a boy and I missed it?! Yay! One of each!
Based on my nephews: the like potty humour, dinosaurs and Thomas the train.
That’s all I’ve got.

My son was always way more cuddly than my daughter is, which was hard for me to wrap my head around.
This seems to be a common theme for most people I know that have one of each.
But the pee – omg they pee everywhere – even when they are aiming for the toilet. This is most prevalent in the morning.

@Sheila (Charm School Reject), If my son is more cuddly than my daughter then that means he would be a fungus. Most days, I have to peel my daughter off of me just so I can go to the bathroom. You are not telling me what I want to hear. This time, I want a kid that’s like, “Oh, yeeeeah, I have a mom, I forgot about her. ”
(Note to God: I was kidding about that.)

1 more thing… I spend very little money on my boys’ clothes. You will soon notice that the boys’ dept. simply doesn’t offer a wide variety of cute clothes. Although it CAN be frustrating at times, had I been blessed with a girl I’d be closer to the Poor House than I am now!
Okay 2 more things, pee is sterile! Keep reminding yourself of that as the previous posts with regards to pee are all too true….

Sigh. I remember that when I was pregnant with number 3, feeling kind of this fierce thing that the one before was THE BABY and that I didn’t want that one to be left out in the cold.
And then the next one came along and was just as adorable as the first ones. Problem solved.
Boys play and laugh and cry – they don’t typically pout as much as girls. Wait. never mind. You’ll find out, and have a wonderful time doing so!

Faiqa Reply:

@Nanna, That is exactly how I feel… I almost feel like I’m betraying my little girl by having another. I know that is completely illogical, but, sometimes, that’s how I feel.

From my limited experience, baby boys…
- are more likely to hit the wall when peeing
- cannot comprehend “gentle”, even when hugging or kissing
- consider smacking a sign of affection
- ditto for kicking
- are more physical (squirmy, moving, etc) than girls
- are louder

@SciFi Dad, So, then… “boys” are just like “men.” Thanks for clearing that up. I should be fine.

SciFi Dad brought up a VERY good point…
“- are louder”
Boys, from what I’ve witnessed, are incapable of enjoying silence, quiet, inside voices, calm moments, etc.
Noise is good. More noise is better. REALLY LOUD DEAFENING SCREAMS & SINGING IS BEST!
I <3 my Boys!

They run, and jump, and climb things. And find every scientifically possible way to get incredibly dirty.
And ditto on all the pee comments. Clorox wipes are my best friend around here.

My boy is 24 but I still remember….he was more active and louder than his sister.
He liked action figures, Transformers and would stage epic battles between them.
Clothes were easy….jeans, t-shirts and multipacks of athletic socks.
He was always pretending to be Batman, Superman or a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle.
And everyone is right about the peeing thing.
