Hey, does anyone remember waaay back when to the days when I used to do Resolution Sunday?
(See, the funny part about that sentence is that it was, like, two months ago. And I only did three of them.)
One of the great things about making resolutions is that if you fall off track, you can just make a resolution to get back on track.
Brilliant.
That’s not my resolution, though, as that’s implicit in the fact that I’m doing this Sunday Resolution in the first place. Perhaps, my resolution should be avoiding nonsensical-bore-you-to-tears-ramblings in my blog?
(And the crowd goes wild.)
Sunday Resolution IV: A Day Off From the Internet.
I need to take a break once a week because I’m starting to feel kind of… addicted. Is the Internet evil and bad? No way. And anyone who thinks it might be is, in fact, a bit of a neanderthal.
Still, I can take a break without any undue harm to myself or anyone else, so what the heck. I hear that there is a whole wide world out there that has nothing to do with blogging, social networking and responding to an e-mail in sixty seconds flat.
I figure if that’s a fabrication, I can, at least, get caught up on my DVR. Kidding. That’s called irony. Or sarcasm. Or something.
I pick… Monday.
See you day after tomorrow.
Hope we can still be friends.

I will be taking Monday off as well. Not because I made a resolution but because I will be at school from 8-3:45pm then work until 9pm. Then I will sleep because I will be dead by the end of the day.

…we are so in sync. I was thinking about taking off for an entire week. We’ll see if I can go without for that long.

No way I’m taking off a day.
You’ll have to pry the Internets out of my cold, dead hands.

What?!?! You can’t pick a WEEK day to take off from the Internet! Everyone knows that! You have to pick Saturday or Sunday which is when *I* usually ignore the Internet completely. That way you’re still available in case *I* need you.
Oh wait…
you still accepting text messages?

Excellent idea. I generally ignore the Internet on Saturday and Sunday and try to have a real life.

@Sarah: Reading that was exhausting. I can’t begin to imagine living it.
@Crys: I enjoyed it immensely. Though, I did go into withdrawal a little.
@Robin: STOP COPYING ME.
@B.E. Earl:Hahahaha!
@SciFi Dad: Ask and you shall receive.
@Sybil Law: I missed you.
@Miss Britt: Texting is OK. Besides, you’re the one who dumped *me* on Sunday morning so you could hang out with your *boyfriend* all weekend.
@Avitable: What I said to Britt. Including the boyfriend part. Consider yourself outed to the Internets.
@Finn: Yeah, I thought Saturday and Sunday were too easy, I wanted to test the depth of my addiction. But, look what happened, I leave for a day and you go and try to break up with me and the rest of the Internet.
@tariq: Wait. You actually live here on Mondays, too? And the rest of the week, as well? I thought you were out of town all week and just came home on the weekends. Huh. This comes as a surprise, but it does explain a lot.

Hah! I was online the whole time. Besides, you never reply to any of my text messages.

I find that sometimes I need a break from the internet too. Especially when what I read has a negative tone to it. Like sometimes the blogs are ok.. but the comments are out of control negative.. spatting… name calling, etc. (this is in reference to political blogs I regularly visit)
So I take a break. Usually a few days. And Saturday and Sunday I usually don’t even LOOK at my computer. Of course now with my iPhone always handy BEGGING me to take a peek at facebook or email it’s getting harder to stay internet free on weekends but I have no doubts that when I really “need” a break, I’ll be able to take it.

@Twinkie: I know what you mean about the political blogs. People seem to lose all sense of decorum because they’re on the Internet. It can be stressful… and LOL about the iPhone!! Yes!! Always informing me that I have an e-mail… what did I do before the time I didn’t know I had a new e-mail withing 20 seconds of getting one 24/7??

I usually go all day Sunday (mainly because I’m so busy and not really home) without reading blogs but I check my email on my phone.
By Sunday night though, I’m bored and alone so off to the interwebz I go.
Good luck with keep up with it though I don’t understand why we should be punished because you wanna have some kind of resolution. Geesh.
