Diversity, dialogue and multiculturalism in America

There’s this award going around.  Something about being a great buddy.  I’ve been completely lame and not posted this award on my site because I’m… well… lame.

Both Janelle from Junk Food For the Soul and Sheila from Charm School Reject awarded this to me back in (buries head in the sand due to complete shame) January.

I really appreciate the nice things both of these ladies said about me on their blogs and am truly grateful for the recognition.

But, dude.  I grew up on a beach.  If I, or any of the socially respectable people I grew up with saw a bunch of people walking on the beach holding hands like they just got off the short bus (like in that picture)… well, things would definitely have gotten violent.

NYC Watchdog from A Pile of Dog Bones awarded the great buddy award to me with a slightly different spin.  And while I do send lots of bloggy love to Sheila and Janelle, Dawg’s award really takes the cake.

I, Faiqa, am one of the few, the proud who have been awarded the esteemed job of shovel (wo)man in Dawg’s nefarious plot to bury Canadia’s Premier Blogger.  I’ve always wanted to be part of something sinister and creepy.  Especially if it would involves the demise of a highly regarded Canadian.

I also love this award because it involves a yeti.  And, really, how nefarious can a plot be if it does not involve a yeti?  Yetis are indigenous to both Tibet or Nepal, which is practically a hop, skip and jump away from India and Pakistan.  So, kudos to the Dawg for inadvertently showing a little multicultural flair.

I’m going to nominate blogs that I read at least every week, but where I tend to lurk.  These are blogs I enjoy, and ones that I think you might enjoy too.  Maybe the word “buddy” isn’t entirely appropriate since some of these people may not have the slightest inkling that I even exist.  It’s actually quite stalkerish, isn’t it?

I’m really taking this shovel (wo)man role very seriously all of a sudden.

Manic Mariah – My favorite “Mommy Blog” of all time.

Pumpkin Delight: Yummy. Plus, a great way to catch up on the Bachelor.

The Life of An EveryDay Princess:  Insightful, heartfelt… real.

Futurowoman Fotographie: You’ll never look at Polaroids the same.

Kapgar: I can’t put this man in a box.  Just go read it.

MOVIEGRENADE: Sucky movies in five hundred words or less.

I’m supposed to nominate up to ten bloggers for this award.  There are rules, but nominees should not feel compelled to follow them, at all.

1. Put the logo on your blog. (You can pick between the creepy hand holdng one and the creepy body toting one).
2. Add a link to the person who awarded you.
3. Award up to ten other blogs.
4. Add links to those blogs on yours.
5. Leave a message for your awardees on their blogs.

Whew!! SOoo glad I don’t have a blog. How’s the Tariq Jr. in the tummy doing? LOL I hope Tariq’s the man in your life.

  2. Faiqa says:

P.S. I don’t consider Miss Britt as being a “Mommy Blogger.” So, my Britt-stalker creds should be intact.

  3. Hilly says:

Hahaha, what you said about the beach? SO TRUE! Nobody runs around like that holding hands on the beach, especially here in Southern California.

    :)

  4. Miss Britt says:

    hahahaha @ your comment

Also? The link to your most favorite mommy blog isn’t – well – a link. Now I’m dying with curiosity!!!!

  5. B.E. Earl says:

    Woot!!!

The first ever award (or mention) of the MovieGrenade ever!!!

You like us…you really like us! Ahem. Sorry about that. I was drunk on your words of kindness. ;)

  6. Faiqa says:

@ADRealty: LOL Tariq Jr is fine.

    @Hilly: Ass. Kicking. Just sayin’.

    @Miss Britt: Fixed it.

@B.E. Earl: Alright, calm down, Sally. And what’s this “us”? Are there more than one of you? Or are you royalty, now? :)

  7. Kimberly says:

OMG! I just stopped over cuz I saw this post was about a yeti and anything with a yeti is funny, no? I’m touched! Thank you!

  8. NYCWD says:

What do you mean “inadvertently showing a little multicultural flair”???

That was absolutely intentional. I totally know that Yeti’s are in Tibet… which is right around Russia… and that you can see Russia from Alaska… and Canada is in there somewhere too.

    Yeah… totally intentional. ;)

  9. Emo saw a Yeti in a restaurant once. No no no Kiefer, I said I had spaghetti in a restaurant once. Well whatever, I think it’s just a hoax. No really, I had spaghetti. That’s not what I meant. Spaghetti is a real thing, like flying rods and UFOs and stuff. There’s no such thing Emo, it’s a suburban legend. You mean an URBAN legend. It doesn’t exist. There are SO such things as urban legends. Who is talking about that, Emo, I’m talking about a Yeti. Yeah at Rockwell. It isn’t Rockwell, it’s Roscoe. Wait, no, you mean ROSWELL. Emo, you had spaghetti at Roswell? I did? Was it green? What?

  10. Sarah says:

I still haven’t done a post about it. I hopefully will get to it sometime, although at the rate I’m going it will probably be next January.

I be a slacker (says the girl who still needs to take a test that was supposed to be done on Monday. Oh yeah.)

Oh and can I take a moment and say I totally love it when you say dude? Because I do, it makes me giggle.

  11. B.E. Earl says:

Faiqa – Yes there is more than one of us on the Moviegrenade. I’ve been the only one updating lately, but badgerdaddy started it and Slyde is another contributor. So “us” is applicable. In this case.

  12. B.E. Earl says:

But Lord Earl does have a nice ring to it. ;)

  13. Faiqa says:

    @Kimberly: You’re welcome. ;)

@NYCWD: Did I write “inadvertently”?! My deepest apologies. Don’t take my award away.

@Kiefer and Emo: I’ve never been to Rockwell. Or Roswell. And are you sure you two aren’t my mom and dad? Because I *swear* my childhood flashes before my eyes every time you guys show up.

@Sarah: Thanks, dude. I grew up in Florida. Gotta say dude or they take away your native Floridian status. Which, come to think of it, could be a good thing.

@B.E. Earl: So you really *are* Slyde’s slave boy. Huh. ;)

  14. Slyde says:

hell yeah, he is. I am technically part of moviegrenade, so im taking the award for my own…

  15. kapgar says:

Woah. Thanks! I appreciate it. And if it will make life easier for you, I’ll do the dirty work and jump in the box of my own accord. ;-)

  16. Jason says:

Hi! I popped over from Pumpkin Delight. I had to see who her new BFF is! And now I can see why!

  17. Faiqa says:

@Slyde: Wow. I didn’t know you were in middle management. (Get it? Because you’re taking all the credit for someone else’s… yeah. This flue has really cut into the amount of wit I have to offer to the world).

@kapgar: No, you’re good out of the box. Fresh out of the box, thinking out of the box but just don’t box my ears.

@Jason: Awww. That was nice of her (and of you to stop by).

  18. Mariah says:

Ahhh Thanks ;) I love anything to do w/ Yetis, btw. Are you in Southern California too? I was cracking up, I gre up here at the beach, nobody holds hands like that

  19. whall says:

I’ll just say what Avitable was thinking, and that’s “are you sure that wasn’t Great Boobie Award? I mean, you’re pregnant and all, and that’s supposed to help.”

He sure can be a jerk sometimes.
