We Briefly Interrupt this Silence

Annnnd now I’ve got the flu. I think.

Well, Tariq definitely has it.  Then, I woke up this morning congested, with a headache and feeling like I ran a marathon last night.

So, that’s why I’ve been ignoring this here blog.

Did you get your flu shot, yet?

High season for the flu starts in two weeks according to the Urgent Care physician that treated my husband on Sunday. When we went to CVS to fill his prescription at 1:30p.m., the pharmacist said they were out.  He indicated that since 10:30a.m. that morning he had dispensed over 40 prescriptions.

I, on the other hand, was a complete fool and slacker and did not get immunized.  I am an idiot.  Because, now, I’m pretty sure I have it.  And since I’m pregnant, I can’t really take anything useful to treat it.

Go. Get. Your. Shot.

If it makes you feel better, the flu shot is usually a mix of the 3 strains doctors THINK will be dominant. Last year’s shot had little to no effect because the dominant strain wasn’t in the shot. It’s like Russian Roulette.

    Only with needles.

Yes. That *does* make me feel better. Intellectually.

    Physically? Still feel like crap.

I hope you and Tariq both feel better soon! If I was already living there, I’d bring over homemade soup and hugs!

Awww! I hope you feel better! Bonus: Theoretically, Tariq should get better sooner than you, so he can pamper you a little. :)
I never get a flu shot. Ever. I only caught it once 2 years ago, too.
Great – now I just jinxed myself. :P

Emo got his but I didn’t get mine. Kiefer what are you talking about… if I got one then so did you. No I didn’t. Yes you… Kiefer you HAD to. If I got one that means you got one. No it doesn’t. Well then how is it possible you didn’t get a shot? Because I wasn’t there. Kiefer…? Yeah? No… nevermind.

Is it wrong that I’m calculating the last time I saw you and trying to figure out if you could have been incubating and/or contagious at that point?

The flu shot is nothing more than a means of the government inserting foreign substances into your bloodstream to enable them to monitor your movements and your thoughts.

@Hilly: Aww, I feel better already!!

@Sybil Law: Actually, I think he got sick *because* he’s been pampering me for fifteen weeks. I finally wore him down.

@Tami: Hopefully, I’ll be better by Thursday…AND Nuha won’t be sick.

@Kiefer and Emo: Ahhh, FINALLY Kiefer and Emo make a debut in the comment section of Native Born. Welcome.

@Miss Britt: Adam? Is that you? Did you steal Britt’s identity? Because I don’t remember her being that much of a sociopath. ;-P

Listen here, lady. If I get the flu I am SCREWED. My husband considers “Mom is sick” days to be the same as “FREE DAYS! NOTHING HAS TO GET DONE DAYS!”

I think the doctor said you’re contagious during the first two days of showing symptoms? So, today is my first day. You should be fine, Ada… Britt. :)

Honey, I hope you’re both feeling better soon. All five of us got our shots in September. I’m just anal that way.

I get my shot free at work, that’s the only reason I get it.

I hope that all of you feel better quickly. There’s way better things to do than feel like you’ve been run over by a truck:)

Yikes, I hope you feel better! I had the flu twice in five months a few years ago. This year, the company I work for paid for our flu shots, so I made sure I got one.

I recommend hot washcloths over your eyes and nose to ease congestion. It sucks that you can’t take anything. /:
