The earth laughs beneath my heavy feet,
At the blasphemy in my old jangly walk
- Smashing Pumpkins, “33”
January 9th.
It’s my birthday. I’m 33.
I like the number 33. Feels mystical. Feels important. We’ll see.
10 Interesting Facts About the Number 33
- The atomic number of Arsenic
- # of times in a day that I think people should stop fighting over ideas and soil all over the world and just stop to reflect on how maybe killing other people has never really solved much or made anyone’s life significantly better in the long run.
- # of vertebrae when the bones that form the coccyx are counted individually
- The age Jesus was the year of his Ascension. Well, some people say 32. But a lot of people say 33.
- Alexander the Great died one month short of being 33 years old.
- The age that some Islamic based folklore suggests that all inhabitants of heaven will remain for all eternity. Huh. So, if a woman is pregnant at 33, does that mean she’ll be pregnant for all eternity, provided that the woman in question actually gets into heaven? Oh. My. God.
- # of times I’ve agonized over comma placement in the past week.
- # of times I start to say the “F” word on any given day, but stop myself before the whole word comes out.
- # of friends I have who were born this month. Like him and her. And, seriously, 31 other people. At least.
- # that symbolizes truth in numerology
Oh, and I’m going to Epcot for my birthday. Because that’s the day they let you in for free.
When is your birthday?

Happy birthday! I wish you all the best! Enjoy your day at Epcot.
My birthday is July 20th. There’s not much to be said about that date, except that it means I’ve been conceived at Halloween.

Happy Birthday! Mine is 11/18. Nothing too crazy about those numbers. Except that they add up to 29, which is the age that I will forever remain. In my head.

but i also have a backup plan, should i not accomplish anything by the time i turn 33, i will give myself until i’m 39.

Now when it comes to my birthday, the walls crumbled and the seas roared to welcome my presence. July 27, 1979 is the day that the world forever changed.
Well, at least that’s what my parents said. ::wink::

My birthday is October 13th, which is supremely awesome because I share that day with Marie Osmond.
Wait…I think that is supremely tragic.
(P.S. I used to agonize over comma placement, as well, and now, I just gratuitously, place them, all throughout, my, blog.)

I love the numbers thing! I might have to steal it for my blog! My birthday is December 15th.. well, at least the one on my birth certificate. I was actually born on the 6th.. but in a ranch. In Mexico. by the time my mom actually took me to a doctor to make sure I was “healthy” and then “registered” me, yadda yadda … it was the 15th. To ensure she didn’t get in trouble with the authorities for not having me in a hospital like normal people do (people who have money and can afford health care) she told them I was born on the 12th and they allowed her to register me as being born on the 15th.
WOOOOT! (true story)

It’s a bit late, I know, but I did want to say Happy Birthday!
I believe Jack Benny said this…

Funny and so true.

I’m not going to apologize for being late wishing you a happy birthday. Belated birthday wishes make your birthday last longer.
I’d apologize for not getting you a present, but since we haven’t met, it’s not appropriate for me to be shopping for you anyway.
33 is both prime and a palindrome.

HI and Happy Birthday!! I found your blog (again) in my old Google Notebook from 2007–and now I have spent the last 5 hours reading through all the posts and comments. I almost feel like we are friends–especially when I listened to your interview with Karl) — (except for the fact that you know nothing about me)–well briefly–I am Pakistani, been here since the 70′s, and have American babies. (I did not notice if you had any Paki/Desi women blogging/commenting . . .) but I hope you won’t mind if I hang out with you and your friends here for a little while –
