Soundtrack

Here’s my morning soundtrack:

  • Stand Up (Ludacris): Wake up
  • She Sells Sanctuary (The Cult): Suddenly remember that I have to take care of other people besides me.  Sigh.
  • Ma Cherie Amour (Stevie Wonder): Have breakfast with my daughter
  • So Much for the Afterglow (Everclear): Clean up while daughter watches Wonder Pets
  • Where Are You Going (Dave Matthews Band): Call my husband to see if he made it to work OK
  • Temperature (Sean Paul): Argue with my husband about something he was supposed to do and actually did, but did not do exactly the way I wanted it done.
  • She Is (The Fray): Turn off TV/DV-R recorder that has accidentally recorded the first five minutes of Dora and has caused my daughter to start screaming at me because she “wants to watch a little bit TV”
  • She’s A Mystery to Me (Roy Orbison): Sit daughter down at table to do some mundane worksheet about patterns or colors or something
  • Can’t Stop (Maroon5): Try to read blogs or write while being interrupted every three seconds by same daughter who after drawing a squiggly line that is about 1 mm long asks, “What do you think, Mama?
  • Everything (Michael Buble): Give up on trying to get anything on the Internet done and read, color or draw with daughter, fix her a snack.
  • Days Like This, (Van Morrison): She looks me dead in the eye and says, “Mama, You’re a good friend.  I love you.”  Swoon.
  • Don’t Fear the Reaper, (Blue Oyster Cult): Get ready for walk, head out.
  • Normal Like You (Everclear): Realize that I was totally out of line for snapping at my husband for something that was totally my fault
  • Pride, In the Name of Love (U2): Thank God that he wasn’t at his desk when I called to apologize.  Maybe he’ll forget what a crazy woman I am by the time he gets back from lunch.

So, that’s my morning.  It’s a sweet life.  Concierge to a three year old.  Designated harpie to the sweetest man on earth.  And pretty darned rockin’ at it.

What’s your soundtrack?

“She Sells Sanctuary” by The Cult is my absolute favorite 80′s song evah! Whenever I think of the 80′s, that song is playing in the background. I was a huge fan of The Cult for a little while there. Nice!

Wow. How do you mentally get from The Cult to Michael Buble? I don’t think my brain could do that without imploding.

Misery Loves Company (Emilie Autumn) – Prep work on the carcass.

Livin In America (James Brown) – drive to work.

Things Have Changed (Bob Dylan) – Up to now @ work (as in “I used to care BUT…”)

Um, right now the soundtrack is Barack Obama’s audiobook “Dreams of My Father”.

    I mean, literally, not figuratively.

“You’re a falling star, You’re the get away car.
You’re the line in the sand when I go too far.
You’re the swimming pool, on an August day.
And you’re the perfect thing to say.”

I love that Michael Buble song. Love.

I think I will answer your question as a blog post! El yay! Right now, I am listening to “Babylon” by David Gray, which is definitely always part of my soundtrack.

I set a soundtrack for every post I write, so my soundtrack is already there.

But, I’d add a final track to yours, if I may, “These Are The Days” by 10,000 Maniacs.

Thanks for listening last night. I’ve added you to my reader as well.

That really depends on so many things. But usually, “Crazy Train,” by Ozzie Osborne.

@Michael Melchor: I want to see *your* afternoon and evening soundtracks!!

@B.E. Earl: Love. The. Cult. Still.

@kapgar: I’m eclectic. Besides, I think you could handle it. You *have* been known to go from Warrant to Motley Crue in a single sitting. Heh.

@RW: Chopin in the morning, Dylan at work. Niiiice. If my parents were visiting, I would’ve put Dylan in there. Just to piss them off. They hate when he starts talking about how parents don’t matter anymore. :-)

@Miss Britt: I just don’t know. I think we’re all going to have to stage an Obama intervention for you. Hee hee.

    @Avitable: Ummmyeah… I don’t know who that is.

@Hilly: Yessss!! I really like the song Babylon, too.

@SciFi Dad: I know! I saw that, and I thought, hmmm, that’s wierd, I just wrote a post about soundtracks…! Love the addition of the 10,0000 Maniacs. Good song.

@Finn: Love Ozzie. Old Ozzie, not so much on the late 80s Ozzie.

Today, oddly enough, my co-worker has been listening to Christmas Music and I haven’t wanted to kill myself (or her) once. I hadn’t even thought about how much I hate Christmas Music till I read this post. Wow. Maybe I don’t mind Christmas Music as much as I thought I did?? :)

Right now my playlist is all the annoying Christmas songs played at work. Because I work 35 hours. That is way too many hours to be at the mall. During Christmas. But then I do get paid, so mabye I should stop bitching….

But still I think I know our entire soundtrack at work by heart. And often sing along because I am bored.

@ Janelle: I enjoy Christmas music in small doses.

@Sarah: I remember that from working in retail. I used to figure out how much longer I had before I could go home by listening to the music.

@Robin: I love that kid. Lucky for me she loves me back. So far.

@Sybil Law: That would be awesome. And I’m going to refrain from mentioning that, hello, you need to update your blog, anyway. :-)

@hello haha narf: Ummm. Please e-mail me and let me know that you got home. ‘Cause I’m going to be worried for the rest of the day, now.

Love The Cult, especially that song “She Sells Sanctuary” That album LOVE was one I played to death in 1985 when it first came out. “Rain” is another song from that album I play a lot of.
